I will continue to make the case for a new airport to the east of London and will ensure that in doing so, the continuing debate places the needs of Londoners at the forefront.

Whilst opportunities to advocate a new hub airport through the Airports Commission's process will now be more limited as a result of their decision not to shortlist an Inner Thames Estuary option, the work of the Commission forms only one small part of the process to decide a future aviation policy for the UK. The final decision rests with the next Government.
