Question

Currently there is no facility provided in Croydon for replacing defective Oyster cards. In order to obtain a new Oyster card and for their old card balance to be transferred, TfL customers are forced to undertake a journey of two hours (at a cost of up to £4.00) to an underground station located either in central London, Tooting, Morden or Brixton. Despite TfL having been lobbied for the past two years to set up an exchange Oyster facility at the Tramlink shop in Croydon, this has not materialised. May I therefore seek your assurance, Mr Mayor, that you will arrange for the implementation of this facility to be expedited?

The necessary equipment and communications links are currently being installed in the Tramlink shop in Croydon.  These will then need to go through a commission and testing phase, and I envisage the facility will be operational within the next few weeks.
