The focus of the project was primarily on developing tools to support managers within the well-established apprenticeship scheme. However, the interns had an opportunity to participate in the assessment centre for the trainees, meet them and take part in interviews.

On that basis, as well as desktop research into traineeships and discussions with the training provider, they were able to differentiate between the different needs of trainees and apprentices, and the support they need to receive from their GLA supervisors. These conclusions in turn fed into the toolkit for GLA managers of apprentices and trainees.

Naturally, the full evaluation of the pilot traineeship programme will be carried out after the 12 week programme - post 21 November 2014.
