The Redbridge Lane East junction does not have traffic lights and recently a serious accident occurred there. Can you give me your views on why traffic lights have not been installed and whether TfL have any plans to remodel the roundabout?

TfL is aware of the longstanding request to install traffic signals on Redbridge Lane East to enable traffic from this road to more easily move through the roundabout. Unfortunately, this is not feasible without creating significant delays to traffic on the A12 and A406.

However, there are SCOOT detectors installed in the road surface of Redbridge Lane East which adjust the traffic signals on the roundabout in real time to create larger gaps in traffic for vehicles joining the roundabout from this arm.

In addition, TfL is currently carrying out a collision study of the roundabout to identify any problems and recommend further measures to help reduce collisions on this part of the network.
