As the report, London Mental Health, makes clear, mental health is an issue for the wider community, not simply health and social care.  Similarly, reducing mental health inequalities requires the creation of a healthier all-around community for Londoners, not simply increasing the provision of prevention or treatment services.

The London Health Board, which I chair, and the independent London Health Commission, which I set up and which reports in the autumn, both have mental health inequalities within the scope of their work. My teams are also taking forward important projects to create a mentally healthier London community including the London Healthy Workplace Charter, Healthy Schools London, the Rough Sleeping Commissioning Framework and Team London.
