In your submission you state that your London Health Commission will be making recommendations in October on air quality. What steps will you take to ensure boroughs are supported in their new responsibilities for public health, particularly in relation to air quality?

As I said in my written evidence, properly integrating new local authority public health powers is a key priority for me and significant progress has already been made. The GLA has published bespoke public health guidance for each borough to feed into their Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), as well as funding pilots working directly with hospitals and medical professionals to reach particularly vulnerable individuals. TfL has published a Health Transport Action Plan, setting out how it can deliver on the Mayor's health commitments, including tackling air quality.

I await the recommendations of the independent London Health Commission with interest.
