My Climate Change Mitigation and Energy Strategy is focussed on reducing energy consumption on infrastructure we control. Bus garages in London are operated and maintained by privately-owned bus operators. TfL is working with bus operators to explore a range of measures at the eight garages where it has a property interest. It will also look at any development opportunities that exist for renewable energy. Solar energy is also already extensively harnessed on the bus network, with illumination of information at 3,600 bus stops and 520 shelters powered by solar cells. TfL considers the use of solar panels in bus garages, where possible, taking into account the structural suitability of buildings where TfL are the freeholder.
