I anticipate that residents served by any district heating scheme will be afforded protection by the Independent Heat Customer Protection Scheme. This is a major new initiative from the CHPA to protect the interests of householders and micro businesses connected to heat networks. The scheme's proposals establish a common standard in the quality and level of protection given by heat supply contracts and offers heat network customers an independent process for settling disputes.
