Given the comments you made in late 2012 - where you called for international students to be removed from the Government's net immigration target - and given recent criticism of the policy by senior Government MPs and Members of the House of Lords, what are your current views on the issue? On what grounds?

London has the highest number of international students of any city in the world and the higher education sector is a key asset of the capital's economy. I believe it is vital that London continues to be the first choice of the best and brightest overseas students, to maintain the quality and reputation of our higher education institutions and to continue to supply London with a highly skilled workforce.
