I have recently announced plans for three new road crossings of the river in east London at Silvertown, Gallions Reach and Belvedere.  These new crossings are essential to supporting the growth of east London.

A public consultation took place between October and December 2014, in preparation for an application for powers to construct and operate the Silvertown Tunnel, which will be submitted at the end of this year. Subject to approval from the Secretary of State, the Tunnel will be complete by 2021/22.

Last summer TfL undertook a public consultation on river crossings further east than Silvertown Tunnel. This found significant public support to develop plans for new road crossings at both Gallions Reach and Belvedere.  TfL has published a full report of the consultation (https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/river-crossings) and is currently working up more detailed scheme designs for both crossings.  A consultation on these more detailed options will take place later this year.
