The Local Policing Model is barely a year old.  The review and evaluation is still underway. We need at least a year's worth of data and feedback and it is too early to draw definitive conclusions

It is important to note that over that year total crime is down 5.7% and MOPAC 7 crimes are down 8%. Public confidence is at 68%.

I will then want to see the findings of the review, and understand what changes the MPS may want to make, before I update the Assembly.

It is right to review progress whenever you implement a big change like this. Part of that involves listening to local feedback and my Deputy Mayor is holding borough meetings to hear how the changes are being received.

If the Commissioner decides that alterations are needed to improve how the model works, then I will listen to that professional advice, but we need evidence from the review first.
