Question

Thank you for your answer to my question 2014/2742. The answer states that the practice of Fairness at Work advisors being told to "Take great care not to make any assessment regarding discrimination - this is not an advisor's role" "has been in place for some time". Please could you confirm when this policy was first implemented?

Internal Fairness at Work (FAW) forms were updated and carried this guidance for those personnel who were acting as advisors in FAW cases. This was not a change within the FAW policy.

As it was not a policy change but updated guidance the MPS have yet to establish exactly when this specific update came into effect.  Nonetheless, this change was likely in effect for at least the past two years.

Following the tribunal judgment, FAW is currently under review.
