Question

Greenwich council has drawn up proposals for a trial to investigate whether these tunnels could be used by both pedestrians and cyclists and has submitted a proposal for TfL funding for technology which would monitor pedestrian and cyclist flows through them. Will you give your support to this initiative which could increase cross-river capacity for cyclists and ensure TfL responds positively to the council's request for funding?

The proposal for the Greenwich and Woolwich foot tunnel trial is currently being assessed alongside many other proposals as part of the TfL Future Streets Incubator Fund. The bidding process is robust, based on clear criteria and will assess all ideas on their merits, it would therefore not be appropriate for me to ensure that one proposal is unfairly promoted above the others. The decision will be announced on 1 October 2014.
