Question

Thank you for your answer to question 2014/2292. My constituent has been in contact again to stress that such a fund would be a public fund and would seek contributions from local authorities, businesses and individuals, as well as from consumer-contribution schemes such as at Waitrose. The idea has some cross-party support, including from Sir John Randall MP. Will you give the idea of such a fund further examination?

I am happy to receive proposals for third party funding to support accessibility improvements, indeed TfL actively seeks such opportunities. The idea for a public fund is certainly interesting; however it does raise some important questions about the feasibility of such an initiative

Nonetheless, this suggestion merits further investigation so I have asked London Underground's Director of Strategy & Service Development, to meet with your constituent to discuss her suggestion in detail and whether it might work in practice.
