Question

It is likely for apprenticeship numbers to decrease as more action is taken to ensure apprenticeships are of a good quality, thereby eradicating ones of poor quality.  What impact do you think this will have on your target to meet 250,000 apprenticeship starts by 2016? How do you intend to ensure you meet the target whilst ensuring the apprenticeships are good quality and go towards tackling youth unemployment in London?

Although the youth labour market has broadly shown signs of recovery (particularly for 18-24 year olds) it is difficult to conclusively establish the impact for the apprenticeship numbers in London. The range and quality of Apprenticeships will continue to be promoted in London and the starts data will be monitored.
