The MPS is using its existing London-wide and borough-based community engagement teams to consult key stakeholders from both the Sunni and Shia Muslim communities, and is conducting Community Impact Assessments on a daily basis.   MPS Commander Mak Chishty is providing strategic oversight and is conducting personal engagement with leading figures from both communities.

While these assessments highlight concern regarding the crisis, this does not, so far, appear to have manifested itself as intra-community tension. The assessments and ongoing engagement will highlight any potential change at an early stage, allowing appropriate action, if necessary, to mitigate risk to communities.
