Question

At Deptford Broadway in Lewisham pedestrians are forced to negotiate nine lanes of fast-moving traffic due to a total absence of crossing facilities at this busy junction. Despite assurances from you (2663/2009) and your predecessor (0649/2005), this junction remains as dangerous as ever. Will you as Chair of TfL order an immediate TfL investigation into how a pedestrian stage can be accommodated at this junction, and ensure works are completed as soon as possible?

I am pleased to report that a preliminary design is in discussion which could potentially achieve this. This proposal will be finalised and modelled in detail before it is shared with stakeholders later this year, and TfL will be happy to share this with you.
