Question

Will your new 'Breathe Better Together' early warning system include a specific warning issued to London schools, so that they know when there is bad air pollution, and will it discourage parents from driving their children to school by car on those days?

I want to ensure that schools, hospitals and the emergency services have access to the information they need and am developing a new forecast and alerts service to do this.

This will be integrated into a new public facing awareness raising campaign - provisionally titled Breathe Better Together and launching in September - which will promote behaviour change such as preventing engine idling and promoting less polluted routes.

This builds on the significant work I have already done to raise awareness, including supporting airTEXT, which provides alerts to the most vulnerable Londoners and providing £20m to boroughs to tackle air pollution hotspots.
