The estimated total cost of policing the Ecuadorian Embassy between June 2012 and the end of March 2014 is £5.9 million, of which £4.9 million is opportunity costs (Police Officer Pay costs that would be incurred in normal duties) and £1 million additional costs (additional Police overtime as a direct result of the deployments at the Ecuadorian embassy).  Due to existing special grant guidelines, the MPS has not made representations to the Government independently, however MOPAC is reviewing this matter currently and I have asked for a report.
