Question

I was concerned to read that in your answer (2014/1251) you said that the cost of renovating Crystal Palace Park is rising and currently estimated to be £80 million. Why was this initially underestimated, and when will you know what the final price tag will be?

The cost of renovating Crystal Palace was not underestimated. It was calculated in 2008 when the masterplan received initial planning approval.  The subsequent high court challenge to the masterplan only concluded last year, when the planning approval was upheld.  Due to this five year delay, costs have understandably risen considerably, and the revised cost includes inflation.
