During Apprenticeship Week I held a press conference hosted by Premier Inn and the British Hospitality Association (BHA) at which I promoted my campaign to generate 250,000 apprenticeships starts in London by 2016 and the BHA pledged to create 7000 London apprenticeships in the hospitality sector by 2016; this attracted the attention of local and national media.

Kit Malthouse spoke at an event hosted by BT to educate young people about the opportunities available to them through Higher Apprenticeships, and addressed a business audience at an event in the House of Lords arranged by the Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network at which he and other apprenticeship ambassadors encouraged employers to take on apprentices in their businesses.

Munira Mirza welcomed over 100 young people to a careers fair at City Hall showcasing apprenticeship opportunities within TfL's supply chain and encouraging them to network with employers and apply for vacancies. Victoria Borwick addressed a business and charity audience at an event arranged by Claremont PR. I was also delighted that Tim Campbell, my Ambassador for Training and Enterprise, was able to attend and speak at many of the week's events.
