I have heard reports from constituents about a rise in aggressive begging, particularly in the Peckham and Tulse Hill areas. Is there a general increase in this kind of intimidating behaviour and what do the Met plan to do to tackle this?

The dedicated ward teams in Lambeth and Southwark have not registered an increase in aggressive begging. In both areas, ward officers would be grateful for any intelligence that may have been provided to you by your constituents.

The ward teams are committed to tackling anti-social behavior and among the tactics they employ are high visibility patrols by the dedicated ward officers.  The ward teams in Southwark are also part of a multi-agency initiative, Operation Poseidon, which aims to encourage people with substance misuse problems to engage with support services.
