Question

I have always enjoyed a good working relationship with my borough commanders in Lambeth and Southwark. However, I am concerned about the rapid turnover of these vital senior police officers in my constituency over the past few years. What can be done to ensure greater continuity and stability in future?

Answer

Answer for Borough Commanders

Answer for Borough Commanders

I recognise the importance of continuity of Borough Commanders and the vital role they play in both leading their borough and the building and maintaining of relationships with communities and partners.

I am committed to encouraging the MPS to maintain stable local leadership by retaining borough commanders in post for at least two years. I understand from the MPS that both Chief Superintendent Gibson (Borough Commander of Southwark) and Chief Superintendent Wood (Borough Commander of Lambeth) have been given this expectation.
