Question

I'm concerned that police numbers have fallen by 27% in last 3 years in Harrow. Harrow has 343 police officers and 38 community police officers which is more than quarter less than the numbers in March 2010. When will Harrow have its full police numbers promised under the new policing model and can you confirm those numbers?

Harrow will have sufficient officers to meet its policing needs. Following the publication of the Police and Crime Plan, the MPS has made further operational decisions to centralise some borough functions such as duties management and intelligence to improve efficiency and continue to reduce crime.

These changes will not affect number of Safer Neighbour Team (SNT) officers. As per the published Police and Crime Plan, Harrow will have 107 SNT officers by 2015, an increase of 46 on 2011. These officers will be supported by a complement of borough officers.
