Officers engaged with almost 48,000 motorists and issued a total of 10,077 Fixed Penalty Notices to motorists as part of Operation Safeway between 25 November 2013 and 9 January 2014. The most common offences committed by motorists were mobile phone use and seat belt non-compliance.

The results show that officers engaged with over 12,000 drivers of large goods vehicles or passenger carrying vehicles (PCVs), which would include bus drivers.

Six FPNs were issued to bus drivers, for contravening a red traffic light at a junction.
