Question

Bus operating companies collect data on persons killed and seriously injured as a result of collisions involving TfL buses at TfL bus operating company garages and depots within the TfL bus service area. Does TfL currently collect this data from the operating companies? If not, will it require operating companies to provide them with this information?

I can confirm that bus operators report fatalities and incidents where three or more people are seriously injured within the bus garage environment to TfL, via its incidents reporting system.

The Health and Safety Executive places additional duties on organisations to report "specified" injuries under the RIDDOR Regulations 2013. Further to this, TfL inspects bus garages for hazard controls as part of an annual assurance audit programme. This permits the sharing of improvement opportunities and best practice between bus operators.
