Question

I have been contacted by a constituent who would like to ask you what you believe is the purpose of the Transport for London Board?   Is its purpose to represent fare payers' interest or to guide the executive, or is it both of these?   The constituent also asks how Londoners can contact Board Members if they have concerns that they wish to raise?

Answer

Answer for TfL Board

Answered By:
The Mayor

The Board of TfL approves decisions on the most important matters affecting the organisation, including the TfL Budget, Business Plan and other major and strategic issues and policies. It also appoints the Commissioner for Transport and holds TfL to account for the delivery of the Business Plan and operational and budgetary performance.

Meetings of the Board are held in public and the meetings are webcast. The papers and minutes from the meetings are published on tfl.gov.uk. The meetings of the Board's Committees are also held in public and the papers are published. As from 1 April 2014 meetings of the Board's advisory panels will also be held in public.

Members of the Board can be contacted by writing to the TfL Secretariat, 6th Floor, City Hall, London, SE1 2AA or by emailing [email protected]
