The most recent diversity and equality training was to newly promoted chief superintendents on 12 February 2014 and included the following aims:

       To develop leadership skills to manage equality and diversity and ensure legal compliance

       To outline Borough Commanders responsibilities in achieving the aims of the MPS diversity & equality strategy

       To discuss approaches that enable Operational Command Unit (OCU) commanders to deliver their responsibilities with their workforce, partners and the communities they serve

       IPCC and racial complaints

       Unconscious bias

Senior staff are on a three year rolling programme of equality training that focuses on the management of working relationships, employment practices and service delivery.  The Leadership programme delivered to all staff, including principal managers, throughout 2012/13 had a strong diversity element.  There are approximately 264 delegates in the cadre of staff being trained but there are staff leaving and joining the group over the three year period with between 12 and 15 delegates on a course and 10 - 12 courses delivered each year.
