Question

A resident from my constituency has raised the following with me regarding conditions for bus drivers: 'As contracts require them to keep to very tight schedules, turn around times at termini are short or non existent and TfL does not ensure that there are lavatory facilities.   We have spoken to drivers arriving at Tottenham Court Road, the centre of our grand city, who have to find an obliging private café. TfL is an equal opportunity employer but I cannot see how women could work in such an environment.' Please ask TfL to give this issue some attention, both at the location in question and elsewhere.

TfL has a policy of providing toilets at least at one end of each route, either through TfL facilities or arrangements with third parties. For longer routes, more than one toilet is provided where possible.

At Tottenham Court Road, drivers do have access to toilets at local premises. TfL is working to formalise these arrangements.
