The London Borough of Barnet is considering proposals for a new station at Brent Cross, not far from Cricklewood, which would enable planned retail and housing developments south of the North Circular, and which would be funded by those developments. The station would be served by trains on the Thameslink route. I strongly support this proposal, and the GLA and TfL are working with Barnet Council and Network Rail to progress it. However it would not be necessary for any services at the new station to run via the Midland Main Line freight tracks and therefore electrification of those tracks would not be a priority for investment.
