Question

I welcome the growth in TfL's ambition to solve the problems in creating Cycle Superhighways 5 at the New Cross one way system. What improvements can be made to 'hub and spoke' links into Greenwich and Lewisham town centres to increase the potential reach of the much delayed CS5 into outer South East London?

TfL is working with Lewisham Council on an extension of Barclays Cycle Superhighway Route 5 east of New Cross using quieter backstreet roads.

Public consultation of the proposals will be starting in September 2014. The extension will look to improve connections from Barclays Cycle Superhighway Route 5 to Greenwich and Lewisham town centres.

TfL is also working with Greenwich and Lewisham Councils to develop the Quietway route network, which is likely to include a route in this area. TfL will continue to engage with boroughs and other stakeholders to ensure these schemes connect with other local cycle routes.
