The GLA is funding work to tackle homelessness in Tower Hamlets and across London. While statutory acceptances of homelessness are the responsibility of the boroughs, the GLA is working with boroughs and others to tackle rough sleeping, for example, with the No Second Night Out initiative, which has reduced the proportion of new rough sleepers who spend more than one night on the streets from 41 per cent in 2008/09 to 25 per cent in 2012/13 and through a budget of £34m between 2011-15 for commissioning pan-London rough sleeping services.
