My position is set out in my Stage 1 and 2 Planning decision letters dated 1st May and 7th August 2013 (ref: PDU/3101a/01 and D&P/3101a/02) and submission of proof of evidence to the public inquiry currently taking place in the Guildhall, City of London.  I support the sympathetic restoration and re-use of those heritage buildings to be retained, as set out in the proposed development, as well as the new elements of retail and office development floorspace that help to ensure that the scheme is viable and deliverable, creating hundreds of new jobs and bringing back into use this key site in the conservation area and strategic Area of Intensification of Farringdon/Smithfield next to the forthcoming Crossrail station, after some 30 years of vacancy.  As the inquiry remains "live", it would not be appropriate for me to comment further until the Government Planning Inspector and Secretary of State have reached their decisions.
