The current area of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is 105 hectares of which 37 is covered with impermeable surfacing (including sports pitches).

The remaining area is permeable landscape and, including parkland, is specifically designed to manage water sustainably.

The landscape across the Park is designed to accommodate and manage heavy rainfall (particularly in the north of the Park) and its design protects approximately 5,500 homes in the Lea Valley from flooding.
