The fundamental rationale for London Underground's proposals is to provide an improved service to customers. The proposals will free up staff from behind closed doors and glass windows to focus on customer service where it is most needed - in ticket halls, at ticket machines, on the gatelines or on platforms.  This will also mean there are more staff visible and available to help customers.

Intensive discussions will be taking place between TfL and the trades unions on the details of the proposals over the next two months. Those discussions also encompass the details of the proposals for staffing arrangements at each type of station and the roles proposed for the new staffing model.
