Question

There is considerable variation in the minimum income requirements for homes on the First Steps web site. At the time of writing, across London they range from £29,600 for a home estimated to cost £1,365 per month to £44,342 for a home estimated to cost £932 per month. Will you review whether minimum income requirements are always appropriate, in particular whether some listings expect an unnecessarily high income and so prevent constituents from buying a home they could afford?

The GLA does not set minimum incomes for homes sold through my First Steps programme.

In some cases, local planning authorities have set these limitations. The London Plan and housing strategy proposes removing these to reduce bureaucracy, and increase choice and flexibility for working Londoners across the capital.
