My statutory health advisor Dr Yvonne Doyle is leading the London TB Control Board which was established to strengthen measures to prevent, diagnose and treat TB, including amongst hard-to-reach groups.  This board contains representation from all agencies involved in TB prevention and control and I am pleased that the board and its constituent groups have already written and agreed TB commissioning intentions for Clinical Commissioning Groups and a London TB service specification, which has been accepted for use in commissioning services in 2014 - 2015.

Additionally Public Health England has made tuberculosis control a priority and is leading a coalition of stakeholders to reduce the incidence of TB.  I have been advised that this includes collecting and publishing information on social risk factors and furthering the National Institute of Clinical Excellence's guidance on tackling TB amongst hard to reach groups.
