Question

Will you ask TfL to agree to local residents' requests to move the twin double decker 271 bus stand in the heart of Highgate Village to the nearby alternative location, suggested by the Highgate Society and other local organisations, in order to protect the character of this conservation area which is one of London's last 'urban villages'.

TfL has liaised regularly with the Highgate Society and other local organisations on this matter, including submission of a full report detailing alternatives and cost implications.

TfL investigated the potential to extend route 271 to Highgate Woods, but this would cost around £400,000 per annum and TfL has been unable to justify this level of expenditure. TfL is continuing to discuss the issue with the Society and others.
