On 5 February, the Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture, Munira Mirza, hosted a roundtable led by Elizabeth Truss, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education and Childcare, to bring together Local Authorities from across London to discuss the opportunities for increasing wraparound child care provision i.e. from child 8.00am to 6.00pm nursery provision in London schools. It was agreed that the Department and Local Authorities will share good practice to support schools with the potential to offer greater provision.  The GLA is continuing to discuss with DfE how we can help influence effective use of the new London Childcare Fund and encourage schools and local authorities to increase provision.

This will help with our strategy to assist with childcare so parents are able to access employment opportunities.
