We are celebrating the 'Year of the bus' to connect Londoners with the bus network and remind them of the incredible role it plays in the capital.

Adding capacity to bus services without cutting it elsewhere or raising fares to unaffordable levels requires additional money in the form of revenue grant. That's why I'm committed to continuing to make the case to Government for investing in London's transport network so we continue to be the engine of the UK's economic growth.

In 2013 there were around 50 changes to routes to increase capacity including peak time frequency increases, night time frequency increases, conversion to double-deck operation and route extensions.

This work will carry on during 2014. TfL will continue to keep the bus network under regular review to ensure sufficient capacity is provided.
