In response to a letter from Mr Brooks' solicitor, this matter is being investigated by the MPS's Department of Professional Standards. They have confirmed that they have found documentation authorising one meeting in May 2000. The investigation is on-going.

It should be noted that there are a number of on-going investigations in this area, including the investigation being led by Chief Constable Mick Creedon and the HMIC review.
