Following consultation with the GLA Environment Team, the LEP's Skills and Employment Working Group found that the number of jobs in the low carbon and environmental goods and services sector is expected to expand significantly in future and that it is essential that Londoners should be aware of the opportunities and have the skills and knowledge to access these.

The Working Group is meeting at the end of May to co-ordinate actions by its stakeholders, which include employer and skills providers, in order to develop the implementation stage of the Jobs and Growth Plan between now and the autumn.

In the Plan, the LEP has asserted that it will lobby for suitable incentives to be in place for skills funding to reward providers for responding to employer demand, and that it will work to develop a much stronger London-wide careers information offer available to ensure that Londoners are fully informed in terms of what opportunities exist.
