What meetings have the MOPAC had in 2012/13 with employers and Job Centre Plus to identify employment opportunities for ex-offenders? What have the results of these meetings been?

In 2012/13, MOPAC had initial meetings with Job Centre Plus (JCP) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This resulted in a pilot (in partnership with London Probation Trust and LandSecurities) in which 24 offenders were placed into employment on Land Securities construction projects.

 

MOPAC is planning work with JCP and partners to explore further development of pathways into employment for ex-offenders. JCP are also a key partner on MOPAC’s resettlement group. This group oversees the delivery of the young people resettlement projects funded by the European Social Fund where supporting ex-offenders into employment is a key outcome.

 

I am committed to helping ex-offenders and to reduce the rates of reoffending. I have recently announced £2million funding for an innovative scheme to tackle adult reoffending in three London boroughs. More information can be found at:
