Percentages of apprentices that started in 2011/12 and are disabled are currently low and under 5% for the MPS and LFB. What action are you taking to ensure that the apprenticeships in the GLA group are accessible to those with disabilities?

This is an important area of focus and there is some excellent practice across the Group. In the last year the GLA Group have contacted a number of different organisations that specialise in placing disabled candidates, these include Re-Employ, Changing Faces, Deaf Unity and Action for Blind people. TfL also runs its Steps into Work one-year development programme for post school individuals with learning disabilities. The programme aims to bridge the gap between education and employment for this group.
