Government grant funding for LFEPA has actually reduced since 2010-11, but the reduction has been less severe than in other fire authorities because of the strong case put forward by the Commissioner, Ron Dobson, which included the impact of population growth. As to how the money is spent, I am entirely satisfied that LFEPA focuses its resources on those most at risk to make London a safer city. The success of that is evidenced by London having the lowest number of fires in over forty years and the number of people dying in fires in the home falling from 48 in 2001/02 to 33 in 2011/12.
