Question

A TfL email I have received states: 'We do not believe that it would be feasible to operate a new crossing at Silvertown without user charging in place, not least because we have said that user charging would be used to fund construction of the new tunnel.' Given that the results of TfL's crossings consultation show that only one third of respondents support the option of tolling the new crossing and the Blackwall tunnel, please explain how else you could pay for a Silvertown tunnel?

Officers are drafting a response which will be sent shortly.

Written repsonse received on 1 July 2013.

TfL is currently developing its proposals for the scheme (including how the scheme can be paid for and the option of road user charging) and these will be shared in due course.
