Question

Will you reconsider your decision to cut the funding for the Greater London Authority's Peer Outreach Team? This has resulted in the team supporting 10 fewer volunteers, a reduction in the amount of work they can do, and no space for new people to join the team?

I wanted to refocus my valuable Peer Outreach Team activities alongside the recommendations of my Education Inquiry and in support of the GLA Education programme. This has meant aligning their role more closely with the business plan of the Education and Youth Team, including work on preventing exclusions, careers advice, the London curriculum and with children in care. After an initial induction period, members of the Peer Outreach Team are not volunteers but are paid at sessional youth worker rates.
