Officers are drafting a response which will be sent shortly.

The tunnels are currently safe and open for use at all times, albeit that the works have not yet been completed. I recognise the need to complete the works as soon as possible.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is, by law, the Highway Authority for the foot tunnels and the most appropriate body to lead on such matters.

Work on the refurbishment of the foot tunnels has been suspended whilst the Royal Borough re-evaluates the scope and nature of the work necessary to bring the foot tunnels up to the desired standard, recognising that the tunnels have an important strategic transport role and have a unique heritage aspect.
