At borough level, species protection is provided by the network of Borough Wildlife Crime Officers, which investigate wildlife crimes, gather intelligence and work in partnership with Londoners and stakeholders to raise awareness of and tackle wildlife crime.

The Wildlife Crime Unit deals with more complex, national or international investigations. The Unit is the national enforcement lead for police on CITES.
