Question

The current 271 bus turnaround is a major impediment to environmental improvement in Highgate Village; is an environmental nuisance to local people; is dangerous; and it is not helpful to have two different places to guess from, when you want to get a bus to Archway. Will you instruct TfL planners to work with the Highgate Society to implement the evident consensus in the community for alternative proposals, including a split arrangement under which half the buses would terminate at the Archway and the other half continue to the bottom of Highgate North Hill where they would turn and stop at the headstop currently used by the 234?

Answer

Officers are drafting a response which will be sent shortly.

Written response received on 13/03/13.

TfL has also received this suggestion directly from the Highgate Society. They gave careful consideration to a range of options for Highgate Village, including the proposal to split route 271, but none of these were feasible. Full details of the appraisal are contained in a response to the Highgate Society which TfL has provided you.
